I downloaded the demo to try with my Passap E6000 knitting machine. I understand there is a limit to the usage, but my problem is that as a demo I'm apparently not allowed to connect it to my machine. So my question is how am I suppose to know if it is going to perform the way I want if I can't try it? You could limit the # of stitches that it could be used for.

Yes, this is a limitation of the software. It doesn't allow to connect a machine to transfer, upload, download and extract the data. This is the way the software has been designed.
If you are not satisfied with the way the demo works, you can then simply forward this to the developers, but I doubt they will do something about it and will recommend to actually buy the program instead.
also, is this still being updated or is this an outdated program and 8.7 is as new as it is ever going to be?
